Supporting Our Colleagues
NWAS Digital Wellbeing Tool
Currently in development, below details all of the work I have completed up to date. Any current or unreleased work is available to be viewed upon request.
The Background.
In summer of 2023, I was tasked with leading on the design and development for SOC. This included identifying processes, requirements, user flows, etc.
SOC (Supporting Our Colleagues) was an idea brought to our development team following the impact COVID-19 had upon our road staff. The request centred around finding a method to identify and support those who work for the trust, and offer a range of available services as an aim to improve mental health.
The Process Map.
Starting off this project, I had several meetings with the senior paramedics behind creating the idea to house an application to support all staff- based upon referrals from others. This could include a referral following a serious incident, for example, and would allow the team leaders to approach their staff and offer assistance. After identifying the end-goal, I created a process map to clearly demonstrate the overall user flow of the system. Click the logo to the right to view the document.
The Research.
Once the process was established and agreed with all stakeholders, I began conducting some preliminary research into the type of users we would be catering for. I did this through user personas and user storyboards, the idea being I could gain a better understanding of what considerations to keep in mind when designing an end product. The Logo.
Another element of the project I was heavily involved in focused on developing a logo for SOC. This process involved several iterations of hand-drawn ideas, which then followed group discussion, as well as conducting a focus group to produce a final design.
The Prototype.
As a final task, I had been asked to develop a prototype on Figma following all of the work previously conducted. The image to the right can be clicked to view the final prototype for this project.
Reflection.
Upon reflection of this project so far, I feel I have ticked all of the boxes in terms of design and requirements. I am satisfied with the workflow, and feel it caters towards the specification. Something I feel I should have invested more time in was ideation phase, and documenting that collaboration effort that was made in more detail. I strayed from my typical process of conducting paper wireframes to see if this saved time overall, but found myself making more changes to the final prototype than I had done in previous projects.
